  Development
The South African National Equestrian Federation (SANEF) has embarked on an ambitious empowerment initiative, which has as one of its core tasks the transformation of the equestrian industry into one that addresses the needs and requirements of all vested Stakeholders, irrespective of historical disadvantages. As a result of this initiative, the SANEF Development Programme was born. The Development Programme aims to Facilitate the participation in equestrian sport by Previously Disadvantaged Individuals (PDIs).

The Equestrian sporting disciplines has traditionally been perceived as elitist and attracting only white riders. SANEF has taken up the challenge to introduce more PDIs to the industry, encouraging participation in all discipline and at an ever more competitive level.

SANEF is the custodian of the development programme, and assist all regions and members with information and implementation of their own regional and local programmes. At the core of the SANEF development programme is a our Flagship Programme, whereby, in addition to the bursary for lessons, show entries and trucking funded by NLDTF, sponsorships have been obtained to pick up the balance of the costs to these riders such as stabling and equipment for the horse. In addition we have a further 5 riders receiving assistance for lesson, show entries and trucking only.
